A Rainy Picnic
Terry
organized a wiener roast during French Camp so that Caleb and Emma
could get together with their cousin, Zachary. For some reason I
was paying no attention to the sky, and set out every single food
item on the picnic table, all spread out on a beach towel
because I'd forgotten the plastic tablecloth. Sure enough, we had
our usual late afternoon deluge. Huddling under the trees, I
counted 1000, 2000, 3000...to make sure the lightning wasn't close. Everyone had a wonderful time
anyway, despite the shower. The rain soon stopped, and our hair and clothes quickly
dried off.
Too
rainy to take pictures, though!
- A Teddy Bear PicnicTerry and I met Suzanne and her three at Bower Ponds one sunny noon.Four teddies hid under the trees and in the stroller, waiting to be found.Blankets were spread on the ground in true teddy bear picnic style, and we munched our veggies and cheese, wraps, and teddy grahams.Oh yes, technology crept in; we listened to the original song. Did you know it was written in 1932?
If you go down to the woods today, you'd better go in disguise...for
that's the day the teddy bears play...
Matteo is specially interested in the cartoon version.
Ellis throws a soft ball into the picnic basket.
Yay!

An Adult PicnicHaving a picnic with our Sleepy Valley friends is always an event to look forward to.I like eating other peoples' food, and they love to cook it. I did bake an apple crisp for my contribution. My highlight, besides the food, was swimming in Medicine Lake. It's a few kilometres north of where we used to live, and we'd never been there! I overcame my aversion to algae-clouded water and weeds, and plunged in. Whew, the bottom wasn't mushy as I had thought; I stood on solid ground. So refreshing!
